Team Templeton of Vancouver, BC, Canada
We are Team Templeton, an eclectic mix of players from the Dzunukwa and Phoenix football clubs of the Metro Women’s Soccer League, and their families and friends. We play throughout Metro Vancouver.
A mixed crowd will descend upon this east side park in a wonderful neighbourhood of Vancouver. As well as playing 20:15 of soccer we will share stories and celebrate Canada’s success in the Women’s World Cup. We will eat, drink, connect, make new friends, run around, and raise money for some of our favourite local organizations that are working to build a world free from violence against women and girls.
Because we love playing soccer, we love watching soccer, we love the Women’s World Cup and we want all girls and women to be free from violence and have a chance to play.
We are lucky enough to be in Vancouver, the site of the 2015 Women’s World Cup. It’s such a big moment for women and sports with more than a million tickets sold so far and 55,000 screaming fans expected at BC Place on July 5th for the final.
The human and economic costs of violence against girls and women around the world are astronomical. No country is untouched by this global human rights issue, no woman unaware of the threat to full freedom that is represents. Team Templeton is proud to be part of any effort that reduces violence, and supports girls and women to reach their full potential.
